    “Un amoureux des vins……………”

Ambiance parisienne, personnel formé au top, l’adresse de Bali si vous voulez boire une belle bouteille accompagnée d’une bonne cuisine traditionnelle française. Christian, le maître des lieux est adorable, la sommellerie est son art, sa vie…………. Situé en plein coeur de Seminyak , le restaurant est à l’image du propriétaire……. Super ! Adresse incontournable.

    “You must do this one.”

Christian and the team at SIP are one of the best service orientated and dining experiences in Bali. I am a regular at least twice a month. I never get tired of this place and it’s always in my top 3 recommendations on the island!!!

    “Excellent Food”

We have been here a few times over the years, the food is excellent. We had french onion soup, salmon belinis, duck, sausage ala parisienne, baked alaska, strawberry mille-feuille. ies and puff pastry. All excellent plus an extensive wine list if you can afford it. Well worth a visit and to be honest better bang for your buck than Kudeta/Potatoehead or Sardine.

  4. A.V says:

    “Brilliant”

Their set lunches at about 75k rupiah are simply superb. My gosh, we had 2 absolutely stunning appetizers with Salmon raviolis in rich butter and Pate with pickle. Our mains were even better, Mahi Mahi with saffron rice and the most delicious, melt-in-your-mouth hamburger steak I have ever had. Free flow servings of bread as any good eatery should. They served the butter in cute little glasses. I’ve heard their wine selection is extensive as well.

Amazing curtain raisers and fantastic dessert. Best lemon tart! Jealous of partner who had slow cooked lamb but glad when she couldn’t fit any more in. Definitly going back

“Sip wine bar great food value for money”
Sip wine bar is great cuisine also combined with an awesome wine selection at an affordable price.
Look its not you average cafe bistro price range but it is value for money.
I have had a trip at the end of last year where I had a duck liver pate as a starter, followed with duck with orange sauce.
I have previously also had steak, which are cooked to perfection but wanted to try other selections from the menu.
Now not that I am a wine coniseur or anything but the wines they have recommended have been light and fruity, and on each occasion have complimented the dishes chosen.
Its also a nice setting as its in the hustle bustle of Seminyak.
A better location would have been right on the water front but hey beggars can’t be choosers.
An all around quality dining experience where the owner also frequents as he did on one of my previous visits.
The staff have obviously had a high quality of training so can help with wine selection as well as recommending dishes.
I found the place to be very clean as well as interesting choice of decor.
The toilets are also of interest as they contain interesting reading material as well as does the resteraunt area.
I chose not to have sweats although I have had on previous visits they are also delicious and with a wide variety.
This could be a pleasant dining experience with family or freinds but also quite a romantic venue.

    “Great French Dining”
Is it dear for Bali, YES it is. But is it worth it YES it is. First time visited tonight and could not have been more impressed, excellent service from the attentive staff, high quality selection of food and a more than impressive wine list. Extremely intimate setting and somewhat stylish decor.

Entrees and mains came out in a more than suitable time, you don’t have to ask for anything as the owner and staff especially are well and truly on the ball. Despite this being our first trip to this establishment it certainly won’t be our last. Cannot wait to get back in a few months….thanks

    “Very nice…”
Lovely ambience (cozy, warm and intimate), great French food and good service – you musn’t miss out on having dinner at Sip if you’re in Bali and especially if you’re staying in the Seminyak area. Plus I’m not really a wine drinker but I must say they have a fantastic selection. Sip is definitely pricier than other restaurants but it’s worth it. You’ll have a wonderful evening!
(The bathroom must get a special mention – what attention to detail!)

    “An Oldie but a Goodie”
And by saying this I am not referring to the owner.
I have been a regular at Sip Restaurant since it’s opening a few years ago and I must say that going back there again this week makes me realize that Christian has really been able to maintain the excellent standards to this day.
He has an amazing staff headed by Putra the manager.
Putu who assists him and the rest of the team certainly know all about customer service and how to treat their guests
And behind the bar, these guys can shake up the best martini in town.
Chef Patrick who is behind the scenes in the kitchen is still creating excellent French cuisine in the tropics and in a country where it is often difficult to obtain product.
A must try is the Grand Marnier Souffle, just sensational !!!!
Unfortunately wines are not cheap but this is due to excessive government taxing but there are always some great weekly specials and the wine list is amazing, but considering who the owner is, it should be !!!!!!!!!!!
As for the owner with his incredibly warped sense of humor, what more can I say.

  10. Bill M says:

    “Revisit to check on quality”
So often does one visit good restaurants in Bali only to find a dramatic deterioration such as was experienced by Slippery stone which had a spectacular start and descended like a stone ,no pun intended.
Sip revisited has improved with the addition of ridiculously cheap daily luncheon plat de jour specials for 75000 Rupiah .
One can’t get a latte and omelette for this price let alone the 2 course menu at this wonderful truly authentic BIstro right out of the Left Bank of Paris so I don’t know how they can do it.
The restaurant proper is still excellent and in fact no more expensive than a clutch of rather up market new restaurants which have sprung up recently ,and in fact is considerably cheaper than most.
It’s no good complaining about the cost of wine in Bali as we all know that the disgraceful prices emanates from the monopolies controlling imports in Jakarta ,but even so Sip offers an affordable range to the very best there is ,so you have a wide choice.
The service remains excellent as does the standard of the food .
This is still a gem of a restaurant maintaining incredibly high standards and for those who complain about the prices ,perhaps you should restrict yourselves to your budget as Bali is no longer the cheap holiday destination it once was ,but there are ample low to middle level priced restaurants and Warungs available for the budget conscience.

  11. Dave says:

    WOW!!!

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Bali.

I had the pleasure of dining at Sip on my last visit to Bali and what an experience.

I did not have a reservation, but being a solo traveller, it was not too much of a problem. The restaurant was quiet, which also helped.

The menu is very good, however I choose to have the 3 course set menu for $20AUD. Entre, was French onion soup, main was sirlion steak, with djioun mustard sauce and dessert was an apple tart with ice cream (heaven).

A glass of wine will of red wine was around $10AUD.

The service was fantastic. The wait staff were attentive, without being a menace.

The atmosphere and decor is classic French bistro.

This is not a cheap restaurant, but having said that, the prices are still cheaper than any cafe in cafe the quality is far superior.

Sip WIne Bar is my new favourite restaurant in Bali.

  12. S.U says:

    You MUST go here!

Im going to make this short and sweet.

PERFECT Food and great Wine list. Service excellent.

If you are a foodie… try this out…

Try the tuna salmon carpacio.. its DIVINE!

  13. Damira Cowlam says:

I had read about SIP and wanted to try and it was so convenient as we were staying at The Haven. The food was absolutely delicious and the cocktails were just perfect (I think I went through about half the list!!). The ambience was that of a Art Deco 1920/30′s Parisian restaurant. The staff was professional and friendly. We had the selection of pates – delicious. My husband had the one of the meat dishes, which in his opinion, was worth every penny!! I wanted Chicken Cordon Bleu that had been prepared by a French Chef – again delicious. For dessert I had the pear puff pastry dish – it was mouth watering (my try to be good eating habits went out the window!!). Layers of pufff pastry with caramlised pear, whipped cream, ice-cream and meringue. I am salivating as I write this! We ate there only once (we needed to try other restaurants as well), but came back a couple of times for dessert only and cocktails. SIP makes the best Frozen Strawberry Daiquiries. Thank you to Gusti and all the fabulous staff – you made our nights! IT IS ONE OF THE MUST GO TO PLACES IN BALI. We will be back.

    Best Restaurant in Bali

If you like really good French food you need go no further. I would rate it as one of the better dining experiences of my life actually – not just Bali. The food is delicious. As a starter I had the French Onion Soup, followed by Grand Mother’s Roast Chicken mmmmm all so so so good. Great crusty french bread with creamy butter. They have an extensive wine list and we went for the monthly special which as a lovely Chilean Riesling. The service was really good and attentive. The owner swans around being arrogant and french but that only adds to the experience. The bathroom is an absolute hoot with aircon, a TV and much more. Yummy!!

    Oh heaven.

A superb little restaurant in downtown Seminyak. Small, Cozy and airconditioned. Such a bonus in the hot humid weather if you want to enjoy your dinner and dinner here is out of this world. The staff are the most professional I have come across in Bali,

A real French Bistro that looks like it was uprooted whole and placed in Bali. All the wonderful dishes you would expect to see on such a menu from Escargot to Steak Frites and Souffles’. Plus many many more including a fabulous and varied selection of fish dishes which are so suited to the climate. The Steak Tartare is the best I have had and on many visits here I have never been disappointed with one meal whether it is Lunch or Dinner. There is something for everyone on this menu and for all occasions. You can go with the a la carte which is very reasonable considering the quality of the food or the set menu which is a little of $20 for 3 courses – this is unbelievably good value with 2 choices for each course.
The wine list is outstanding considering the difficulty of getting wine in Bali not to mention the outrageous tax on it. Put together by the French owner who is the most wonderful host and a famous sommelier whose love of the grape shows and it is a pleasure to have a conversation with him about his vast knowledge of wine.
Every visitor to Bali who loves and appreciates food and wine should make this a must go to restaurant.

    Excellent French Food

We dined here with locals and had a delicious meal. We had escargot as an entree and duck with orange sauce as our main, their crepes were also amazing to finish this delicious dining experience off.

  18. P.P says:

Thank you for saving us from all the terrible food. We ate 3 nights in your restaurant and loved all your meals .thank you for a little bit of heaven on our holiday.

“A SUPRISE IN THE MIDDLE OF SEMINYAK”

We dined at this restuarant 3 times in 8 days. If you are an early diner, between 5 and 7pm then you will reap the rewards of a special 3 course set menu that is delightful and cheap. A great selection of wines, even the house wine is worth trying. We found the decor very pleasant, service was very prompt. The food excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant and were so glad that we were told about this lovely Wine Bar.

  20. S.P says:

The best French Cuisine in Bali!

I discovered this hidden gem, by chance, walking in front of Bintang Supermarket, in Seminyak. It is a very discrete place. It is not belonging to the typical commercial places (so popular in Bali). As soon as you enter you start noticing the differences… The decoration is very authentic and moves you a real Parisian Restaurant. The Menu is SUPERB! It is real haute cuisine! We came to know that the Chef was the Chef in one of the best restaurants of Paris, with two Michelin stars. The quality of food is unique. The wine selection is the best in Bali. The onion soup is the best I have tried, the pates and terrines unforgettable. The desserts delicious, the services very good. I recommend as one of the best french restaurants in Asia.

  21. BB says:

“All of us loved the set menu”

Made a point to return to this French restaurant this year. Sat outside on a table of 6. Did the set menu again because the full menu is too overwhelming. We are on hols so the least decisions we make – the better. Beef carpaccio was outstanding. Mahi Mahi was the best fish dish I had on this holiday. Couldn’t eat the apple tartin dessert – too full. Took a young honeymoon couple and another couple and he is a Chef and it was their first visit to Sip. They all raved over it and said it was the best meal that had enjoyed in Bali. We all did the set menu but ordered different options. Service was unobtrusive yet efficient.

  22. C.P says:

    Thanks for the food!
Gorgeous french restaurant Wine bar, very good food and awesome services only at a few step from the Bali villa we rent in Seminyak.
Will come back again for sure !

  23. W.K says:

    “Delicious!”

Sip is a chic wine bar. Very romantic atmosphere, dim lighting, chilled music. Food is absolutely delicious, 5 star quality! Staff were friendly and remembered us like old friends on our second visit!
Not a wine drinker myself, but they had an enormous collection of very nice wines!
Will be coming back here next time we are in Bali for sure!

“A five star restaurant in the culinary capital of bali, seminyak”

A chic France resto in Bali,Frequently visited by Bali expat n frequent bali visitor.
The food n the service r excellent. The staffs are well trained, Very attentive and friendly. This restaurant has good wine list and if u like wine but u dnt know very good about th wine, the staff or the owner Christian will advice u with the wine selection.

The place at seminyak street, opposite bintang restaurant is nt too big. They hav branch at sunset road wich is bigger so u can enjoy the food there wth a big group of friends.
The food r pricey but it worth of money. I like the escargo there n made me always want to go to any France resto anywhere I go just to have this food.good music accompany ur great dinner at th great restaurant. Nice ambience.

the rest room.just surprise me. interesting. They provide bottles of mineral water, just in case box which containt anything u might need in emergency condition (well, just in case..), amenities like towel and comb, TV n a monkey painting!

From the food to the service and the restaurant itself, i can say SIP is a five star restaurant. SIP Restaurant is SIP (another way to say good in Indonesian language)

Was there long time back..around 2009

  25. F.L says:

    “A multi-cultural experience”

While the food and wine was excellent here, we enjoyed the multi-cultural experience more than anything. The confluence of French and Balinese was fascinating, and as Americans, we felt like we were in a little Parisian restaurant in the middle of Asia. The food was excellent and the staff’s assistance and attention to detail was superb.

  26. V.W says:

    “Eight Happy People”

Eight people, all orders on time and together. Found the Coquilles St Jaques a little too much cheese sauce, but not by much. Originally ordered pork chops but staff came back and said kitchen didn’t think they were worth serving. That’s good! I had the duck with green peppercorns and was wowed. Every one else loved the different appetizers, mains, and desserts. Great night out, perfect service, perfectly cooked.

  27. L.G says:

    “Yummy ravioli”

Stopped in for lunch impromptu when I recognised the name from food write up in Lonely Planet and had alaskan king crab ravioli. The flavours made up for the size of the dish. It was rich food – home made raviolis stuffed with shredded alaskan king crab serviced with sumbawa lobster and sea urchin sauce. Not a cheap restaurant by Bali prices, but the dish I had was divine and something like I’d never tasted – delicious. The service was professional and friendly. The waitresses were very slick.
A visit to the conveniences is worth the trip. They have thought of everything! Has to be seen to be believed.
I will most definitely visit next time in Bali.

  28. B.F says:

    “Lunch Special”

Had an amazing lunch there…excellent value for the fixed lunch…quality of everything was as good as expected, as this was one of the places all the locals told us to try out…so many great things on the menu…we will be back 100% next time we are in Bali :)

  29. K.A says:

    “Fantastic Restaurant in Bali”

Absolutely loved this place – Steak Tatare in Bali!!

A friend and I end here for supper, I did not expect to find a top quality brasserie in Bali but this was exactly what SIP delivered. The restaurant looks great and the food more than delivered. I suppose for Balinese standards the restaurant is quite expensive but at 100 USD a head it was well worth it. The steak tartare was first rate and then the mains and pudding were great as well.

Brilliant staff, great service well worth a visit or even a detour (going again tomorrow for lunch on the way to the airport!)

  30. H.C says:

    “French flair”

Lovely deco and ambiance at night. Entrees- goat cheese salad, charcuterie Wine- Tabel rose and Pinot noir Mains- veal and the tournade de Rossini were both amazing. Deserts – too full and happy Then a little chat with Chef. Great.

  31. C.D says:

“Authentic French bistro food in Bali”
It seems unlikely to find authentic French bistro food in Bali (or to be seeking it) but Sip
Wine Bar is excellent. Fantastic food, service and overall experience. This is our second visit there, and my travelling companion was as happy with his housemade sausage as the first visit. The mediterranean fish soup is wonderful and it’s hard to realise you are not in Provence!
And the bathroom is something to behold – very luxurious and completely unexpected!

  32. F.D says:

    “We loved Sip”

Wonderful little restaurant. Great food great service. This place made my wife’s night. We loved it !!!!

    Advice: book your table here

  33. J.H says:

    “Great food”

Very nice food, good service. Will definately go again next time. Only problem was the bogans there as well, but that’s not the fault of the restaurant.
    Check out the toilet.

  34. G.O says:

    “Great Fixed Price lunch”

We had 2 courses for 85,000 rups, it was delish and service was great!! Check the menu Sip restaurant Fixed Price Lunch here

Without any doubts, One of the best Bali Seminyak restaurant !!!

  35. P.A says:

    “best french onion soup”

Loved the food especially the french onion soup, cocktails are made well and certainly not watered down which is the case in most bars in Bali, we both enjoyed our meal but did get caught out by not reading the menu properly and ordering “steak”… Definitely one of the better restaurants in Bali Seminyak!

  36. S.S says:

“Couldn’t wait to go back … So we did!”

Brilliant! Fantastic French cuisine in the traditional style, but with Bali prices. Gorgeous staff who have been trained in the arts of presentation, service and the matching of food and wine. Highly recommend the boulliabaisse, the Tournedos Rossini, some amazing desserts, and all this lovely place has to offer.

  37. MC says:

    “Don’t miss this one.”

Glad we came across this little beauty. The food was tremendous, the wine list so extensive and the service was excellent. No old-fashioned Cordon Bleu as an entree … The long plate had a pile of proscuitto at one end with a delightful pattie of chicken breast and gruyere with a delicious bread crumb case with a small green salad…

  38. O.M says:

“Bali eats best in Australasia and this is a hot spot ! FIVE STARS”

While some of my team of 15 diners groaned that we did not come to bali to eat French the great bistro feel calmed them down and the food sent all in to orbit.
Expansive wine list – very expensive by local standards but wow factor just 10/10.
Has to be in the top five in Asia INCLUDING the land of Oz and Long Whie Cloud
    Metis better value?

  39. M.O says:

    Amazing food, setting and service

We went here on Monday 2nd April.
The food was amazing. I had onion soup, my wife had the beef carpaccio. Both were very fresh and tasty.
For main We had the duck with green pepper corns and the fillet steak rossini. It was one of the best steaks i have had anywhere in the world.
For dessert we shared a apple tart with ice cream, which was amazing.
Overall very well presented and tasty food.

  40. D.J says:

    Gets it right

I went to the one in Seminyak, i am told there is another location,

Food is very good, but the difference in this nice little bistro is the service, which as other places is sadly not as good as the food.

The staff are fabulous, firstly have a knowledge of what they are serving, but are honest, asked a question about a starter, and asked if it was fresh of frozen, and was given a refreshingly honest answer.

They are switched on, and on the ball, matched by equally very good food, served and in a nice clean interesting environment.

  41. K.F says:

    “French inspired style in Bali”

Our visit to SIP was brought about by passing curiosity, followed up with a booking for dinner. Classy reception by staff and a comprehensive list of cocktails started the evening well, followed by a pan of fresh-made potato crisps. SIP has a comprehensive menu and I enjoyed the meal. Dessert was sumptuous – I have a sweet tooth – and overall a great evening was had. Ambience great, with interesting decor and appropriate lighting. Really good effort!

  42. N.T says:

    “Amazing”
Amazing restaurant, we went 3 times in 10 days and if I had my way it would have been 10 times. Desserts were mouth watering and the Grandma’s chicken was exceptional.

  43. O.F says:

“Sadly only found Sip on the last night !”

Sip is a real find. Delicious food, excellent service, great wine list. My husband is a real fan of French food and was in heaven. The fois gras and duck breast were some of the best he has ever tasted. My scallops and snapper were very good. Sadly we are going home today, or we would have been trying the rest of the menu.
    Well done Sip !

  44. M.G says:

“A suprisingly excellent French restaurant in Seminyak”

The ambiance was great, the service excellent and the food tuly excellent. The early bird menu from 5:30 -7:00 pm is great value. Wines from all over the world with prices to match but worth having. A real surprise to get such good French meals in Bali.

  45. S.F says:

    “Fabulous”

We ate at SIP 4 times within a two-week period. After the first night it became our younger daughter’s “favourite” restaurant and whenever the discussion started about where to eat dinner, her vote went always to SIP.

The food is excellent and the service was sensational. On our second visit, they greeted my partner by name [this is even when we arrived without a reservation] and remembered that my younger daughter liked a bowl of ice to go with her water – quite impressive.

Stand-out meals included either of the duck dishes, steak frisee, the cassoulet [no it was not too hot to eat this as it was delectable], the slow cooked lamb dish was extraordinary and the side order of mashed potato is ESSENTIAL [just don't schedule a cholesterol check immediately after eating this].

On subsequent visits we took friends with us and they also returned during their holiday. At our last meal, they brought us a dessert to try ‘on-the-house’ it was extremely nice and adds to the feeling that you are guests rather than paying customers.

The wine list is extraordinary and reflects the incredible experience and knowledge of the owner but as an wine-spoilt Australian I did baulk at the prices but there are a number of reasonable wines that you can order by the glass.

We highly recommend this restaurant as a “must eat at” one.
